What's Involved

If you are not sure what career you want to enter into, then this qualification is ideal for you. You will gain an insight into different areas of the business world which will support you in all aspects of any career choice you make. Following a successful completion of the course, you would also be able to enter onto the Level 3 Business programme or alternatively, you could gain employment.

The course is made up of four core units and five specialist units chosen by the college. You will learn about the subjects including business communication, sales and customer service and financial controls.

The course will give you a good grounding in all the areas of business which you will find useful when you enter the world of work.

Entry Requirements

You'll be required to have completed Business Level 1 or have 4 GCSEs at grade 3 (D) or above and a good school/college reference.

Where will it take me?

The Pearson BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Business is an ideal stepping stone for further study at a higher level. Many students upon achieving a Merit Grade use the qualification to apply for the BTEC National in Business or the AAT qualifications. Some students continue with GCSEs in other subjects.

Course Assessment Method

All units are internally assessed and graded by teachers. There is an examined unit: Investigating Financial controls. We use projects, assignments, presentations and other practical activities to assess you. An overall grade for the qualification is awarded to students who successfully complete all units. Grades awarded are Pass, Merit or Distinction.

The compulsory subjects are:

Unit 1 - Enterprise in the Business World (Exam) Unit 2 - Finance for Business (Exam) There are 10 other subjects which will be studied, where assessment takes place by coursework being submitted.

The director is worried because enrollment is down even though there are several tours of the center by prospective parents every day. She feels like her center shows well but is worried because sometimes the rooms are not as neat as they should be and there may be other problems that she’s not aware of with her teachers. As the director/owner, the employees don’t really talk to her about what they might need to make their job easier. It’s clear that a training needs analysis needs to be completed in order to determine why enrollment is low.
The first things that our consultant is going to do are talk to the assistant director and also take time to talk to the teachers about their jobs and any issues they might have. During these talks, the consultant will also look at their KSA’s which will help in determining training issues and the need to develop programs. It is also important that all of the workers have a CDA; Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) is a nationally recognized entry level credential in the field of Early Childhood Education. It is issued by the Council for Professional Recognition. The CDA is designed for those individuals who are working with young children in all settings.
